The second vintage release of Andrew Thomas’s reimagined DJV label continues a proud Hunter Valley tradition — the Shiraz Pinot Noir blend, affectionately known in earlier times as Hunter River Burgundy.
Inspired by regional legends such as Maurice O’Shea and Murray Tyrrell, this elegant wine pays tribute to those classic styles while offering a fresh, modern interpretation.
A blend of Shiraz (74%) from the Shed Block of Pokolbin Estate — neighbouring the iconic old-vine Kiss Shiraz — and Pinot Noir (26%) from Red Door Estate on Hermitage Road, this wine captures the best of both varietals. The result is a silky, medium-bodied red with lifted red berry aromatics, soft spice, and a gentle savoury edge.
Beautifully balanced and versatile, it’s best served slightly chilled — perfect for warm days and relaxed occasions. With only 274 dozen bottles produced, this small-batch release is a rare and charming expression of Hunter craftsmanship.
